PLANT ASSISTANCE

We work closely with site personnel throughout all phases of testing to ensure a smooth work flow. Our goal is to minimize client assistance throughout the testing process.

Required Site Personnel

Prior to testing, LDS requires a main point of contact to coordinate P&ID retrieval. The main point of contact is also needed to provide any necessary plant data. This individual also serves for clarification in the event that drawings are unclear.

During testing, LDS does require plant assistance as follows:

One operator will be required to coordinate all activity with the control room & stroke valves as necessary.

One instrument & control tech may be needed to stroke or adjust the calibration/set points of Air Operated Valves as necessary.

One repairman may be needed to remove insulation to install test ports and adjust air operators as needed.

Insulation Hole Preparation

We need access directly to the valve body/outlet piping, as close to the downstream side of the valve seat as possible.

If the insulation is a cloth blanket that can be peeled back, a hole is not necessary. Otherwise, the most common method of access is a 2” insulation port, made with a common portable drill hole-saw bit.

If asbestos is present, arrangements will have to be made for a qualified asbestos worker to create the port(s).
